Government grants are making it easier than ever to go green!

There’s some useful information and energy saving calculators on the Energy Saving Trust’s website:

Energy Company Obligation (ECO):

This scheme offers funding for energy efficiency improvements to low-income and vulnerable households, including the installation of solar panels.

Feed-in Tariff (FIT):

This scheme closed to new applicants in April 2019, but those who installed solar panels before this date may still be eligible for payments for the electricity they generate and export to the grid.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme:

You could get a grant to cover part of the cost of replacing fossil fuel heating systems with a heat pump or biomass boiler.

Fossil fuel heating systems include oil, gas or electric.

This scheme is open to people in England and Wales.

We can apply for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme through Ofgem when we are contracted to install your system.

The value of the grant will be taken off the amount you pay for installation.

Ofgem will contact you to confirm that we are acting on your behalf. They might also contact you by phone or visit your property in order to check the installation.

Grants of up to £25,000 are available to renovate empty properties, enhancing safety and energy efficiency. The grant is dispersed in instalments during the work, with a minimum 15% contribution from the applicant.

The ECO scheme

The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme in Great Britain aimed at addressing fuel poverty and cutting carbon emissions. The scheme has had four iterations: ECO, ECO1, ECO2, and ECO3. ECO3 ended on March 31, 2022, and ECO4 started in July 2022. ECO4 covers measures installed from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2026.

The ECO4 scheme is the latest government initiative to assist low-income households in creating more energy-efficient homes. It emphasizes energy savings to make homes warmer and reduce household emissions.

ECO4 aims to be more inclusive, targeting a wider range of people, especially those in fuel poor households. This phase of the ECO scheme focuses on transforming the least energy-efficient homes into safe and warm houses on a larger scale than before.

With £640 million available, ECO4 intends to offer a broader range of funding to vulnerable households to enhance the efficiency and heating in their homes.

The ECO scheme is free to apply for, and we’ve assisted numerous satisfied customers in securing free ECO grants. Simply check with your local authority to access this grant.

Government Grants and VAT Savings for Renewable Energy Installations in the UK

With 0% VAT, Now is the Time to Upgrade Your Home’s Energy Efficiency

For the next five years, you can enhance your home’s energy efficiency with no VAT on energy-saving measures. Take advantage of this opportunity to install insulation, solar panels, and heat pumps at a reduced cost with no VAT until 31 March 2027.

This initiative aims to promote the adoption of green technologies, helping homeowners save significantly on installation costs and reduce their carbon footprint. Act now to benefit from this tax break and lower your energy bills while making a positive impact on the environment.

In the Chancellor’s Spring Statement published in March 2022, the Government announced a five year zero-rate of VAT for the installation of certain types of energy saving materials, including solar thermal systems and air source heat pumps.

This VAT relief is effective from 1st April 2022 until 31st March 2027 and applies to domestic properties across Great Britain. This initiative aims to boost the adoption of low-carbon technologies and improve home energy efficiency.

What Qualifies for 0% VAT?

  • Solar Panels: Install solar panels to generate electricity, cut your energy bills, and potentially earn from the Smart Export Guarantee by exporting excess energy to the grid.
  • Heat Pumps: Enjoy up to £6,000 savings under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) for heat pump installations, alongside the 0% VAT benefit.
  • Insulation: Improve your home’s energy efficiency with insulation to reduce heat loss, lower your energy bills, and maintain a comfortable temperature.

Take advantage of this VAT exemption to enhance your home’s energy efficiency and contribute to a greener future.

EV Charge Point Grant:

The EV Charge Point Grant offers up to 75% off the cost of installing an electric car charger, capped at £350 including VAT per installation. This grant can significantly reduce the expense of both the charger and its installation.

Eligibility for Flat Owners and Renters

Vehicle Eligibility: You must own or have ordered a vehicle listed on the OZEV vehicle list.

Charger Compliance: The charger must be OZEV approved.

Installer Certification: Use an OZEV approved installer for your installation.
